WooCommerce: Remove Jetpack Ads @ WP Dashboard

Here’s a quick snippet to disable those (annoying) Jetpack ads and upsells that show in the WordPress dashboard if WooCommerce is active. Thankfully, Jetpack provides us with a filter, and hiding those banners is quite easy. Pity there is no option in the settings (as of now).

Here’s the 1-line PHP snippet for you – add it to your websites and avoid annoying banners for all users. Enjoy!

Those ads you see in the WP Dashboard belong to Jetpack… here’s how to hide them

Snippet (PHP): Disable Jetpack Ad Banners @ WordPress/WooCommerce Admin

/**

add_filter( 'jetpack_just_in_time_msgs', '__return_false' );

Where to add this code?

You can place PHP snippets at the bottom of your child theme functions.php file (before "?>" if you have it). CSS, on the other hand, goes in your child theme style.css file. Make sure you know what you are doing when editing such delicate files - if you need more guidance, please take a look at my free WooCommerce Customization video tutorial.

Does this snippet still work?

Please let me know in the comments if everything worked as expected. I would be happy to revise the snippet if you report otherwise (please provide screenshots). I have tested this code with Storefront theme, the WooCommerce version listed above and a WordPress-friendly hosting on PHP 7.

  1. Would be nice with an article about why JetPack should be used at all. It’s been reported over and over pretty much everywhere that it slows your site down. I would never even go near it.

    1. Hey Jessica, thanks for your message! I use it on this same website, and by activating only the “modules” I need, it does not slow it down. JetPack is totally fine to use and because it’s Automattic’s property, they’re also very responsive with support. Give it a go ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Why not just click the little x on the right hand side? Works for me.

    1. Good point John, but I noticed even if I click on “x” the ads and future ads keep coming back after a while ๐Ÿ™‚
